Our home is focused on the start of school in a few weeks. Mommy has eliminated all her extra curricular activities and has lots of free evenings now to work on projects that have been neglected. JD has started his new school night routine for bath and bed time. Daddy continues to work hard.
We got a new "Special Talk Time" Book. It's been working out really really well. God and Me: 365 Daily Devotions JD really likes it and so do Mommy and Daddy. It gives a topic, asks some good open ended questions, gives a prayer related to the topic and then a scripture passage. We have been reading the scripture passage from the bible he got at his graduation; It is a kids bible written in simplified language with larger words explained. Last night the topic was feet. How we use our feet (walk, run, hop) and thankfulness for our feet because some people don't have working feet. The biblical passage was about the paralyzed man that is lowered down by his friends on a mat. This was a great way to talk about Uncle Nick and his paralysis as well as feet.
JD is excited about starting a new school. We drive by occasionally and look at the school and talk about when he will go there. We don't know when his first day will be but I am supposed to be getting a call some time today or tomorrow. We also still need to go supply shopping which should be an adventure.
We had a nice week-end with lots of play time with friends and outside time. The weather has cooled off and it is almost pleasant now. Everyone is happier with lots of outside time.
Last night on they way home JD asked if we could stop and get a snowball. I was ready to pass it by but Robyn wanted to stop too, so I was outvoted... darn. It was very tasty and we had fun sitting outside eating our snowballs. JD asked this morning if we could get a snowball for himself, mommy and daddy to share.
