I hate daylight savings.
We've had lots of excitement this week. It had become very clear to us that JD was going to need a new bicycle. We were trying to wait until his birthday but that wasn't going to happen. So for the past week or so we have been checking St. Vincent de Paul for a new bike. And Thursday we found one. It is in pretty good condition although has it clearly been left out in the rain. We oiled it, pumped up the tires and put on training wheels. JD was very surprised.
Also the house next door is for rent. There was all kinds of stuff out on the curb including a basketball goal. we have to get some counter weight for it and a new net.
Friday evening we went to mass. We went last friday too and decided afterwards JD was to old to bring toys to church and that he was going to have to start paying attention. We already sit in the front row so he can see. So this friday we went early and read our kids book about the mass. JD did really well. He did all the gestures, repeated the words, and otherwise participated. as soon as mass was over there was a stations of the cross i wanted to stay for but JD was hungry and ready to leave. after a little bit of commotion Daddy and JD left and I stayed. When the stations of the cross were over the people in the pew behind me all thought JD was really well behaved and didn't like that I was fussing at him (for the record, we just went and got some water from the fountain and talked about proper behavior. Even though he had a snack before we left, it was dinner time which is why Daddy took him to get another snack). When they came back to pick me up, I told Daddy and he said, "Grandparents" which a shake of his head.
Saturday afternoon we went to Rockin' at the Swamp which was a lot of fun. My mom, sister and I were members of the BR Gem and Mineral society when we were younger so it was a little nostalgic for me. I didn't remember anyone there but I remember the rocks. We looked at lots of different types of rocks, made "Rock Pythons", walked the trails and made a rock identification card, and JD did the "Gold Rush" and got a small bucket full of pyrite. We had a great time.
After that we went fishing at the local fishing pond and failed to catch anything. A man a little farther down caught a fish while we were there and we sent JD off to look at it.
Dinner with Grandma rounded out the evening.
